Meeting Summary

Call Attendees:

Domenic Leo (host), John Etchells, Donna Margiotto, Lani Dick, Edward Courtney, Marc Filigenze and Alex Butler.

Meeting Highlights:

• Introduction and review of UTBMS objectives

• Review of current status and IP objectives

• Develop Life Cycle Event Map for Patents and Trademarks
• Action plans need to be finalized by next UTBMS meeting to be scheduled in conjunction with ACC meeting in Washington D.C. ; October 17-20, 2005.

• Discussion of efforts to attract participation from IP interest groups including:

• ABA-IP
• IPO
• AIPLA
• INTA

· Discussion of recruitment

§ Per suggestion of John Etchells of AT&T, Domenic to draft proposed language to be used to attract other individuals, particularly law firms

§ Workgroup members to selectively recruit individuals interested in participating

· Review of organizational structure

§ Ideal structure to be Chair or Co-Chairs with Administrator Head

§ Creation of Patent and Trademark Subgroups

§ Ed Courtney will act as Chair for Trademark Subcommittee

§ Will recruit Chair for Patent Subcommittee

§ For time being, Domenic Leo will act as nominal Chair of IP Workgroup

· Next meeting scheduled for August 19, 2005 at 10:00 EST.
